WORDPRESS AND LINKEDIN

I always like it when I hear some creators online, talk about how easy it is to create your own website on WordPress. That’s how I got interested and created my own website.

It was quite easy to create. but my mistake of creating a WordPress.com has cost me my Adsense monetization option.

Nonetheless, I still plan on working on this website, to see how I can provide more value to it and create a personal brand. Am sure my knowledge of podcasting, blogging and content creation can be useful to those in need of it.

I’ve also started posting on LinkedIn.

It’s a platform that you don’t usually find much people talking about it online, compared to other content platforms.

For a short while now, I have been on the platform and seen a lot of creators write about their stories and how they have been able to achieve a lot on the platform.

For some reason, the platform give you these legit feeling of achieving results through consistency and connections.

I LINKED MY WORDPRESS WITH LINKEDIN

I see content creation as a skill that when learned and applied properly, you can be able to diversify your potential for growth and revenue through easy steps.

LinkedIn allows access for WordPress writers to share their blogs with the platform for easy sharing of content on both platforms with just one click.

This is so useful because when you write a blog post on WordPress, it easily gets shared to LinkedIn, providing automatic content for the platform. I call it passive content.

Just like this post, you could either be reading it on WordPress or from LinkedIn.

One key thing is spending more time on your content on LinkedIn in particular, because you then create something unique and extra for your LinkedIn audience, which the algorithm likes.

It’s a win win for you the creator and the algorithm.

You might already be doing these, if you are a serious or experienced blogger. But for the newbies like myself, it is something you can add to your LinkedIn, to help connections see the quality work you offer.

The goal is to keep posting, reading and getting better.

MY FIRST GIG

Writing fail

I see people talking about making 4 figures + online through blogging every single month and am here wishing if I could have only three figures a month, I will be satisfied.

I have met some stumbling blocks on my path to becoming a six figure writer and it starts with me finding it difficult to monetize my writing .

I write on medium, but the platform is not yet reliable, for me to earn at least.

My country is not yet eligible for the medium partner program, so I am not yet able to monetize my content directly on medium.

Affiliate marketing

I don’t need to define what affiliate marketing is to you reading this post.

I’ve tried affiliate marketing but am still waiting to crack my first sale on the platform.

Am currently a partner for Amazon and other affiliate programs but am still trying to figure out how to earn through this stream.

It’s difficult when you don’t have sponsors and niches but we keep grinding.

Freelance

Honestly, if anyone has a freelance writing or social media marketing jobs, you are free to contact me. Freelancing is a major way most writers monitize their skill but I haven’t had any luck, getting a partner to work with.

I have used platforms like upwork and fiverr to get gigs online but am still yet to get any connections.

The annoying thing with Fiverr is the english tested am required to take in a couple of weeks.

Sponsorship

This stream of income is currently not even available for me yet. It requires you to be known for something that businesses are willing to sponsor you.

I am not yet opting for sponsorships now but I’ve heard that there is serious money to make writing a sponsored post.

I haven’t tried this yet.

Ads

I created a WordPress.com instead of a WordPress.org, now I can’t monetize my website with Google adsense or mediavine, unless I upgrade to a business plan.

Making money online really isn’t easy. I just hope I find someone who finds my skills useful. Am ready for the experience.

HOW TO START BLOGGING IN 2022

Today we are going to learn about the basics required to start blogging in 2022.

Some friends came to visit me a few days ago and I was asked this question

I want to start blogging

how do I start?

If you already own a smartphone or a laptop with a good internet connection you already have the tools required for blogging.

The simple answer which I can gave, is to watch some YouTube videos to get the basic understanding of blogging platforms to start a blog— but it seems some people still face difficulties understanding how to blog.

Because there are many blogging platforms and bloggers out there, it can be difficult settling on a method that would work for you

But before I go further, it is important to understand that there’s blog writing and Instagram blogging. this are the two I will be discussing on this post.

BLOG WRITING

Blog writing is the primary form of blogging that requires you as a creator, to write about a particular interest or topic. when writing a blog, you are communicating with your audience in a written format, so be sure to observe the basic skill required of a blog writer.

The very basic skill required for blog writing is writing. Be sure to be able to put your words in a simple manner for your readers to understand. Once you have this going, you are set to start blogging.

A few tips I would like to share to new blog writers are

Learn new words
Use plugins like grammarly
Read contents from other bloggers
Take a few blogging course
Write about your interest
Invest time on YouTube to learn

A less complicated way to start blogging is medium. I have previously written about medium in an earlier post, but it is a platform worth starting from— if you are new to blogging.

All you have to do is install the medium app

Give yourself a few minutes to understand the app

Then start writing

I recommend medium because it is easy to understand and navigate, if you would like a less stressful and complicated way to start blogging.

BLOGGING WEBSITE

There are also many categories of topics and interest to write about and with mediums high domain authority, you are sure to reach your audience on medium .

You will still own the right to your work but if you would like to full control of work as a writer, you can also create a blogging website

If you would like to have control to customize of your blogging platform and own full rights of your traffic, I will recommend a more complicated route, like creating a website with WordPress or wix

You will need a web hosting account to store all you data on the internet

This is you will need web hosting form a hosting provider like blue host. There are various packages available depending on the amount of data you want to store on the server.

The first year is free— give it a try and cancel anytime

If you are going for WordPress website, get a wordpress.org domain name— it will give you access to personally organize your website design and ads placement.

For fiction and story writing, I will recommend a platform like watt pad. you create an account with wattpad

Share your stories to millions of readers

You can also spend some time on YouTube to see what other platforms are out there.

INSTAGRAM BLOGGING

Instagram blogging are for those who like to take good pictures and videos to tell the story behind it.

Instagram is a photo and video sharing app for users to show their point of view to the millions of audience on the platform.

This will require a phone with a decent camera for a start. Anything that records at 1080p is good.

Take those lovely photos and videos, share them and grow your blog

At the end of it, if your goal is to simply blog in a less complicated way, medium and Instagram is your choice. but for serious, hardcore, full time bloggers, Having a website is your go to.

With platforms like WordPress, wix, blogspot and others, you can create a full blogging website and run your blogging business. With a full website, you can share everything you want to share on your website in your own unique way.

All this can be accessible, if you have working mobile smartphone or a laptop with an internet connection.

Google my business is a very useful tool in placing your business on google. A lot of businesses can easily be found by searching for the business name on google and every information provided by the business owner is made available for potential customers to see.

It is completely free and it utilizes features like location, photos, call buttons, reviews and comments, to optimize the visibility of the business on the internet— which can generate more sales at less costs and time.

As important as this feature is, I don’t see a lot of business content creators taking about it or sharing it as a major tip, for new or existing business owners who are willing to take their business online.

I will be sharing the necessary steps you need to take, to set up your google my business— You can even add it to your list of media kits, if you are a social media manager.

ELIGIBILITY

According to google, to have a Business Profile on Google, a business must make in-person contact with customers during its stated hours— Your business must have a physical location

The following businesses are NOT eligible for a Business Profile:

Rental or for-sale properties such as vacation homes, model homes, or vacant apartments. Sales or leasing offices, however, are eligible for verification.
An ongoing service, class, or meeting at a location that you don’t own or have the authority to represent.

Brands, organizations, artists, and other online-only businesses aren’t eligible for Business Profiles.

EXCEPTION

ATMs, video-rental kiosks, and express mail drop boxes are permitted. If you add these locations, you must include contact information for customers to get help.
Seasonal businesses, like an ice-skating rink only open in winter months, are eligible. These businesses must display permanent signage at their location year-round.
